About Lake Weir High School

Lake Weir High school is located in the southeastern section of Marion County. The approximately 1600 students arrive at school from homes with diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. The school zone is wide bringing in students from rural communities to suburban areas. Thirty-five percent of our students come from rural areas and fifteen percent from small towns. The school boundary lines make up approximately 450 square miles, which is 35% of the county’s area. 73% of our students are on free or reduced lunch; the mobility rate is 46%, and 31% of our students are minorities. Our faculty is approximately 78% majority and 22% minority. Lake Weir High's feeder schools are Lake Weir Middle School and Fort McCoy School.

Lake Weir High opened their doors in September of 1955. The school offers a curriculum that prepares students to be productive after graduation, whether they continue their education in an academic setting or enter the workforce. Course offerings range from IB (International Baccalaureate), advanced placement/honors, and applied technology programs to courses with accommodations for exceptional education students.
